FAQ:

What are your qualifications:

I am in the process of finishing a ten-month, comprehensive training course through the Integrative Psychiatry Institute (Colorado). This training included two practicum training weekends (with ketamine and psylocibin).

 What is “preparation and integration?”

Preparation is work designed to support a psychedelic medicine session. We want to ensure that you are clear on your intentions for doing medicine work and that you have protocols designed to help your mind, body and spirit receive the medicine in optimal ways.  Integration work helps us to make sense of and “hold onto” the insights gained while taking psychedelic medicines and ideally to implement some of the learnings in everyday life.

What methods / modalities do you use to do this work?

We will use a combination of talk therapy, art therapy and somatic work.  Psychedelic work typically involves facilitating a non-ordinary state of consciousness for healing purposes, so I like to bring in modalities that go beyond traditional cognitive techniques. Be prepared to get creative—psychedelics can get weird.

What medicines do you work with?

I am trained to work with psilocybin (“magic mushrooms”), ketamine and MDMA. I have more limited education on ayahuasca, 5-MEO-DMT (bofo) and ibogaine.

Do you offer medical screening or dosing information?

I am not qualified to provide guidance around screening or dosing protocols.

Do you offer medicine sessions?

I am not qualified to administer psychedelic medicines.

Have you ever taken a psychedelic medicine?

Yes—practicum work was part of my clinical training. I did a group medicine session in Colorado where I took an intra-muscular injection of ketamine. I also participated in a four-day medicine retreat in Oregon where we took psilocybin (“magic mushrooms”). I have undertaken adjunct personal healing work to support my education.

Is psychedelic-assisted therapy even legal in Canada?

Ketamine, psilocybin (“magic mushrooms”) and MDMA are all legal for therapeutic use in Canada if you have been approved by a regulatory body.

Will you support personal journeys?

I am not promoting or condoning the unregulated use of psychedelic medicines, but I will offer preparation and integration work for personal journeys in the name of harm reduction. It is important to underscore that the use of psychedelic medicines does carry significant risks.
